Job Description

1. Material Receipt, Inspection & Verifications
Incoming Goods Inspection: Receiving raw materials, heavy machinery spares, electrical equipment, marine paints, and tools arriving from suppliers.

Discrepancy Checking: Verifying all received items against purchase orders, delivery notes, and technical packing lists to note any damages, shortfalls, or quality issues.

Coordination with QC: Directing critical components to the Quality Control (QC) or engineering teams for technical clearance before officially moving them into the inventory.

2. Inventory Management & Digital Tracking
ERP System Maintenance: Actively managing and updating inventory stock registers through computer-based platforms (such as SAP / ERP packages).

Stock Optimization: Monitoring minimum and maximum inventory limits to signal the procurement team before critical shipbuilding supplies or consumables run out.

Traceability: Affixing barcodes, capital asset stickers, or physical tags to materials to ensure every piece of hardware is traceable to specific ship construction or repair projects.

3. Warehousing, Storage & Material Handling
Safe Storage Practices: Ensuring materials are neatly organized and stacked on shelves, in bins, or in designated yards according to standard industrial safety norms.

Hazardous Material Control: Overseeing the segregated, high-security storage of volatile or hazardous shipyard consumables (like industrial gas cylinders, fuel, oils, and marine chemicals) in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) rules.

Material Movement: Working alongside forklift operators and riggers to safely lift, load, and transfer heavy components around the store complexes.

4. Material Issuance & Internal Liaisoning
Work Order Fulfillment: Reviewing work requisitions submitted by different departments (Mechanical, Hull, Electrical, Outfit) and issuing exact parts or tools to technicians.

Stock Reconciliation: Participating in periodic physical stock audits to reconcile physical counts against electronic records, investigating any data mismatches.
