Job Description

Signal Monitoring & VigilanceSignal Sighting: Constantly monitoring track signals, speed restriction boards, and caution indicators ahead. The ALP must visually confirm and loudly call out signal states to the Loco Pilot to eliminate tracking errors. Track Inspection: Observing track conditions while in motion and checking the rear of the train on curves to ensure the coaches/wagons are running safely intact. Mechanical & Technical TroubleshootingPre-Journey Checks: Inspecting the locomotive before starting the trip. This includes checking under-truck equipment, handbrakes, sand availability in the sandboxes, and measuring fuel, lube oil, and water levels. In-Route Monitoring: Routinely examining dial metrics, engine temperature, and voltage fluctuations during the trip. Minor Repairs: Performing quick on-the-spot technical troubleshooting or minor mechanical repairs if the train experiences mid-track stalling or breakdowns.
