Job Description

Assisting the Loco Pilot: Act as the primary support to the Senior Loco Pilot in operating the locomotive, ensuring all signals are correctly identified and called out loudly to maintain safety.

Locomotive Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the engine to check for oil leaks, coolant levels, brake pressure, and the overall mechanical health of the locomotive.

Signal Monitoring: Maintain constant vigilance of track signals and speed restrictions, ensuring the train adheres to the prescribed "Section Speed" and safety protocols.

Minor Repairs: Perform "on-line" minor repairs and troubleshooting if the locomotive faces technical snags during a journey to minimize delays.

Safety Documentation: Maintain the "Log Book" and "Repair Book," recording the locomotive's performance, any abnormalities observed, and the fuel/energy consumption during the shift.

Communication Management: Operate the wireless communication sets (Walkie-Talkies) to stay in constant contact with the Guard, Station Masters, and Control Rooms regarding train movement.

Shunting Operations: Assist in shunting activities, which involve moving the engine or coaches within the railway yard to attach or detach them from the train formation.

Emergency Response: Execute emergency braking procedures and safety measures in case of track obstructions, equipment failure, or any threat to passenger or freight safety.
