Qualification

Matriculation/SSLC + ITI: 10th grade pass plus an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institution.

Matriculation/SSLC + Apprenticeship: 10th grade pass plus a Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in relevant trades.

Diploma: A 3-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering.

Degree: A B.E. or B.Tech degree in the engineering disciplines mentioned above is also acceptable in place of a Diploma

Job Description

Signal Calling: One of the most vital tasks is "calling out" the signals. The ALP must identify the upcoming signal and loudly call out its aspect (e.g., "Green" or "Yellow") to the Loco Pilot to ensure mutual confirmation and safety.

Locomotive Handling: Assisting the Pilot in starting, accelerating, and braking the train according to speed restrictions and track conditions.

Vigilance: Maintaining a constant watch on the track for any obstructions, animals, or abnormalities that could affect the safety of the train.
